ALS JE SLAAPT (EP, 2016)

With my musical alias Hemd, I produced an EP called Als je slaapt (translated: When you sleep). On it are three songs:

1. Als je slaapt
2. De zoektocht
3. Vrije val

It is an EP about love. Tender and overwhelming. About holding fast and letting go.

I wanted the physical EP to be more then just a cover with a carrier inside. Instead it had to support the songs on the EP and encourage the listener to find more depth into the lyrics of the songs. I designed a picture book in which you, both visually and textually, browse through the songs.

The lino-cuts are designed as visual cues that trigger you to listen to the lyrics a bit more carefully, leaving room for interpretation. The whole book is made by hand, from the calligraphy to the craft bookbinding.
