8 Billion – v. 01

8 Billion is an ongoing series of publications in which I reflect on the inherent contradiction in how we relate as an individual to global phenomena; like climate change, the plastic soup and loss of biodiversity. In face of these global phenomena, our actions are both insignificant and significant at the same time.

As a daily meditation, I write down the current world population number and make a drawing. By browsing through this zine you can see the population rise with each passing day, slowly accumulating to that 8 billion milestone, all the while being accompanied by child-like drawings.
